Wet Pets Vernon CT

Has anyone ever been to this store?

A gentleman I work with said its a nice little store, wanted to get the groups feedback.

I used to go all the time when I was into African Cichlids, they had a really nice selection (this was about 3 years ago). They did offer a pretty good selection of salt water fish, but not a lot of coral. I remember things like shrooms and leathers. Things could have changed by now. All their tanks were set up like home aquariums at the time, nothing was on a system. They were all run with hang on filters and canisters. Everything always looked really healthy.

used to go all the time when i went to uconn (pre 2004) --- forgot about this store. do they offer a club discount?

I've never been, saw some pictures online from their website, looks like a small little store with a few tanks. Didn't know if anyone had been there recently.

Live about 5 minutes from them. Have not been there in a long time. Why - Very very small selection of fish and corals. Also, prices on everything are much higher than other local fish stores. If you live close by, I suppose you could stop by. If you have any distance to drive, don't bother.

It's an interesting and enjoyable place to stop....plenty of tanks to gander at and they always look well cared for and the stock as well....but like seagull said...not a huge selection of stock compared with a place like puppy center and prices tend towards the upper end. I do not think they offer the club discount either....but I could be wrong about that.

Mike, Skip it I don't like bashing or bad mouthing stores but i don't like sugar coating anything either they have little to no coral not anything you would be interested in at least and the fish are common clowns chromis and damsels nothing exotic when it comes to salt water. they have nice Koi and Cichlids but i don't think you're there for that. You feel like driving go to aqua-dreams or greenwich or the fail proof PC LOL!

+1

Not worth it in my opinion.

I am right around the corner. I find, the selection of product to be cheaper than Petco or any other big store. The fish are all in their own tanks, and they have a way of medicating them if needed, and seeing who is eating or not. The prices are average to the quality of fish they have. The corals are among the easier species to keep, but again priced fairly. You can get some frags for $12 to $20. I have dealt with Don on many occasions. I like the store and will continue to use them; but that is just my $0.02.

I agree with what most people have said thus far. Having everything in isolated tanks is nice and their selection always seems very healthy. Having said that, the selection leaves a lot to be desired.

I find that with there 5 dollar coupon that they are still a bit higher than just about anywhere else. I know for fact that the fish are drip acclimated though as I saw them doing so. Selection is ok dry goods there are actually decent on cost. They also carry lock line and filter media for RO at competitive prices. I do not believe that the honor CTARs last time I was there.
