I recently visited Wet Pets new location and was very impressed. Is there a better saltwater store in central oklahoma? Please justify your response.

Aquariums in Edmond is a staple for us up north, custom reef creations is also awesome in Moore!

as far as justification just talk to the owners they are awesome and want your tank to do well!

My honest blunt opinions.. Hope I don't offend!

Aquariums in Edmond has to be the most honest fish store I have ever been to in my life and I have lived in a few different states. She will give you solid advice and help you get the most for your dollar. I think Wet Pets has a much larger selection of livestock for sale than aquariums. My only gripe about aquariums is usually everything is sold by the time I get there lol . Right around the corner is Petco in Edmond and they have some great prices on corals and fish in their saltwater section but the key here is to " buy it before they kill it" . At Petco I usually just bag what I want myself it saves stress on the fish and time spent in the store .. The reef shop has lots of corals and livestock to pick from but their prices seem a little on the high side and sometimes I question the health of their livestock. Its ashame but you really do not get that warm fuzzy customer service feeling when you walk in their store like you used to. I used to goto the reef shop exclusively and no where else even as far back as to when they were on NW 50th and Portland. I cannot remember that name of the older gay guy that worked there or the shorter dark haired, tan biker chick but they allways helped me with what ever issues I was having and helped me get my tank back on track.

I havent been to CRC yet but ill report back when I do.

Aquarium Concepts was allways entertaining to goto. Between the old drunk guy and the red haired guy with the headset I usually got some form of entertainment or sarcastic funny responses/one liners out of a visit to them. I am kinda sorry they closed.

We are pretty lucky to have several good reef shops in the OKC area. I know Tulsa has at least one good one, but I haven't been there.

I lived in Norman and went to Wet Pets all the time for stuff. When I lived in Edmond, Aquariums was my store. Now that I"m in MWC/Choctaw, I go to CRC most often. If I'm in either Edmond or Norman, I like to pop in and see if I can give them my money for anything. All 3 are great stores. I went into Reef Warehouse (near White Water Bay) once or twice and left happy. I don't live near them, so I never did a whole lot of business with them.

OKC seems to be a bit of an anomaly when it comes to reef shop quality.

I've always found that CRC is the best place for advice, and also have a huge coral selection. There's also Highdefcorals.com that has a great coral selection.

I have purchased most of my stuff from WetPets in norman, but have found some really awesome corals at CRC. I really enjoy the staff in norman, and Bill at CRC is a wealth of knowledge if he's not too busy.

Lucky to have great stores in OK for sure!

I have to get out to CRC. I miss Aquarium Concepts also. They gave me a biowheel off of one of their dozens of hang on the back filters when I was cycling my very first tank. Lord knows what I introduced from that in to my tank but at the time I thought it was very kind.

I have had great luck on fish from Wet Pets, but my hands down favorite LFS is CRC. Bill is very good at what he does and extremely friendly. I have seen some of the nicest, and most exotic specimens at CRC. I have yet to buy anything from high def corals, but I know that Paul is an extremely friendly and intelligent man, and if you have ever seen his 600 gallon custom reef in person you might poo yourself.

Bill at CRC is the best by far.......and it's not even close. If you want the right answers to the tough questions then he's your man.

My issue with aquariums is they sell 250w Phoenix halide bulbs for $95. I buy them online for $48. When I went in and asked if she could bring the price down a little, she said, "that's what I pay for them."

Now I know that's not true.

Anyway, I do like the way they hang on to their fish for a week before letting people take them home.

Bill at CRC is awesome.

CRC is the best in all the land!!!!!!

Bill, Ryan and Grayson (SP?) offer the best advice and service. CRC is also very kid friendly! I have a 5 yr old daugher and bill treats her just like she is family. He lets her hold / touch inverts, gets down on her level and talks to her and was even letting her help frag corals. Other fish stores dont pay any attention and ignore my little girl and it drives me nuts because she loves our tank.

CRC also has the best Prices! There have been many occasions where Bill could easily talk me into something I didnt need but steered me in the right direction. In fact, the times I took advice from other stores I lost livestock, over paid and felt dooped by buying things I dont need.

Bill will also price match, trade and has no problems knocking off a few bucks if you are a regular and buy a few items.

WetPets is a good second choice but you will hear different answers from every staff member, their live stock is hit or miss (usually sickly), corals are over priced and small and when they are busy its hard to get help. I will go there from time to time to grab a filter or veggie clip if I have to.

Aquariums in Edmond the few times Ive been there was way over priced and extremely dirty.

Thats just my opinion..

I appreciate all the POSITIVE comments on your favorite store. This hobby has as many opinions on how to do things right and wrong as any I can imagine.

I'm glad people are airing out the good and bad about the LFS around OKC. The stores deserve/need our feedback. That's the only way they will know to change or keep up the good work.

I've always found Custom Reef Creations to be a great place for both price and selection. Advice from Bill is second to none. He also has an unbelievable selection selection of coral. Wet pets also has a good selection for fish and equipment, but their advice is spotty at times. Aquariums in Edmonds is nice, but too far a way for me. I really like the fact that they will test your water for you. The Reef Warehouse is a horrible place. The lady there actually tried to sell me a sick/dying fish. I actually feel bad for the livestock there. It's almost as bad as Petco. At least at Petco they give me a receipt and I don't fell ripped off when I leave. With as much negative feedback as she has received over the past years you would think she would change, but NOPE. Stay away.:thumbdown

+1 on CRC. I got some awesome SPS frags/small colonies the other day. All of the live stock I have purchased from there have been healthy. My tangs are doing awesome!
