Found on Rock ledge growing at water line low tide..., green and brown (think the brown was actually yellow in the sea).

Looks like sun coral. It is non photosynthetic so as long as there is flow, it doesn't care. Problem is you will have to target feed it and usually it only extended its polyps at night.

I suggest returning it to the ocean.

Ah cool, nah its always got its polyps out, and seems content, target feeding is not a problem, bare in mind also my tank is fed directly by the sea water off the reef (will look at ways of pumping in directly later as its only 20mtrs away) so i am guessing it gets its food out of the water correct?

Plenty of flow 12000 litres in wave makers plus return should be enough surely, bare in mind low tide on the rock work so spends half the day out of water or with no flow?...

it's palythoa sp .....encrusting palythoas. I've seen them in the Caribbean a lot (p. caribaeorum)....if you're in the indo-pacific, yours is p. tuberculata

treat them same as other palythoa......wear protection when fragging, for hand and eyes. otherwise it's a fairly hardy coral. It's sometimes found in the tidal zone, so it can handle being exposed to air as it just closes up.

Ha, yes i litterally ripped it off the bolder down the beach (low tide), though ive noticed one has died partially, (crab been eating at it) as my LR is off the reef fall (stuff washing up on the beach), its full of crabs and cant i am pulling them out daily, one bugger a blue clawed one is at least 50pence in size...

Sure i also have a manta in there...

Anyway, moved the damaged one to just below the water line, all others are doing just fab !
