Hey,

I recently bought an establishted tank, and found this guy inside:

I'm guessing gorgonian, but I'm quite new to salt water tanks, so I'm just guessing.

Is it alive? Can I tell? How do I make sure it doesn't die?

thats a gorgonion all right but im guessing its dead because i cant see any polyps

That does look like it could be a gorgonian. You could try feeding it at some point. Perhaps some Cyclop-Eeze or some similar-sized food. That might bring out some polyps.

It looks to far gone, more than 90% of it has died and fallen off. You could try t fed it but at this point I dont think it is worth it.
