I use the Kent Sea Squirt to feed my LPS. It's extendable to like 35" or so. ...

I use the same thing. It also doubles as my "wand of death." :lmao:

As far as tentacles not being out during the day, that shouldn't be the case with your Duncan. If it is, something ain't right.

Even if the acan/trachy tentacles aren't out, I bet if you squirt some food on them (and you ward off the shrimp with your 'wand of death') they'll appear pretty darn quick!

Yes, re tentacles not out I was talking about the trachy. The duncan expands very well. While I think growth is still rather slow its expansion is lovely and I think, overall, if all my corals were in this health I'd be very pleased. Caring for the corals is a whole different kettle of fish. HAHAHAHA Couldn't resist.

I did do a little surgery on the tip of the sea squirt to open it up a little bit. I had some times where a clump of mysys would get caught in there.

I also use the squirt to blow out the rocks...and have even blown light cyano off the rocks too.

Update. Getting used to the vagaries of Julian's thing. The "joint" in the middle to get my depth makes it a little tricky. Trachypyllia seems to have stabilized. Wife thinks it's improving. 1 acan died virtually overnight and the other two frags just holding on. Maybe now that I'm feeding one or both will recover. Same goes for the caulastrea. Thanks very much everyone.

What about feeding Ricordia? I have orange and green striped and there is little response.

Your ricordea will east as well, I have feed my the same fauna marine LPS pellets to my ricordea and it ate it right up. Same standard applies keep your wand of death ready!

Why did your Acans die they can survice without feeding. They don't like getting blasted with light that is for sure. Where are you keeping them?

I tried cyclopeese but the recordia didn't seem to take it. I'll try the NLS pellets.

Acans - on the bottom, still on plugs stuck in the substrate but with the "top" of the plug above the sand. They seemed to take cyclopeese. One is recovering.

Lights were initially maxed at 50%, and the sudden die back was after I cut them to 40% max because I thought maybe the light was too strong. I've pushed the level back up again.

Also increased max level on the WP40's and increased the minimum level too. So more overall current.

Caulastrea are also on bottom now but one doesn't seem to have tentacles anymore and the other very small - did seem to eat some cyclopeese the other night.

Were these acan frags? Were they fresh cut or fully healed? Could have been an infection of some sort. Yeah the ricordea don't have the tentacles to "catch" the smaller foods like cyclopeeze.

They were frags. of the 3 two arrived in quite good shape so I would say fully healed and the third - the one that died - was a bit banged up and never did well.

I'm getting the hand of Julian's thing. It's hard to do. Tank is deep. One hand way up top, very hard to get the tip in the right spot. Another hand part way down the side and then my old eyes in bifocals trying to see wth is going on in a dark tank. YEESH!

Give the Kent feeding squirter mentioned earlier a try. They're fairly inexpensive. My neighbor has one of those Julian's thingies and I hated it for the reasons you mention. Julian's thingy is just too flexible.

Resurrecting a bit of an old thread.
I too have a Kent Sea Squirt which I use to feed my LPS.
Had to enlarge the hole a bit, as it always seemed a bit small and food would get stuck in it.
Picked up a bubble coral a few weeks ago and i'm wondering if i am feeding it enough.
Usually feed all my corals every 3 weeks or so.
Enough?

We feed LPS weekly. Do you feed your fish heavily so that it is getting food between your target feeding? Bubble corals seem to have a pretty voracious appetite!
