What Anemone is good for my tank?

I have tried a few anemones and had no luck, I have written the lost ones off with different excuses/reasons. I am curious as to what people would suggest I try with my current tank equipment.


75 gal FOWLR, 25 gal Sump/Fuge/Skimmer, 4x65 watt power compact retro fit sunpaq lights 2 white 2 actinics. 2 Black and White Ocellaris Clowns, 1 Yellow Tang, 2 Bangaii Cardinalfish, 1 Mandarin Dragonette, 1 Six line wrasse, 1 Firefish, 1 Chocolate Chip Starfish, 6 Super Tongan Nassarius Snails, 10 hermit crabs, 5 Turbo Snails.......

I also use RO water for changes and top offs.I keep my temp between 78-81 degrees and Salinity at 32-33 ppt. The tank is almost 3 years old.

I have heard maybe adjusting my salinity for altitude helps the anemones but haven't tried that ???? I live at 5,280 ft

Please explain why........... I assume its because of their lighting needs? How big they grow? Type of clowns I have?

Most BTA's have relatively lower lighting requirements than many other anemones that are floating around in the trade. Many would also the agree, that most (not all) BTA's are more forgiving of less than ideal tank conditions. The only thing about these specimens is that often times they have a tendency to roam around. This period of "roaming" time can be frustrating to the aquarist for obvious reasons, especially when the tank has other sessile inverts. BTA's can get large in their own respect; not surprising to see one 12" (or more) in diameter when fully expanded.
In regards to your losing anemones in the past, I would definitely be sure that all of your tank conditions are favorable for an anemone. They are really delicate and dynamic creatures, and if there is something in your tank that may have caused the previous anemone's demise, make sure that problem is fixed. Also, be sure to pick a healthy specimen to begin with; starting with a healthy anemone is half of the battle. HTH

i said BTA only cause youve had bad luck with them so i figure you should get a species that isnt going to put a strain on the wild population.

plus the other reasons rythmic fire mentioned.
