I am at the point of deciding if i want to do a closed loop on the 240 and if i do it will be dependant upon the species of anemone i keep. Let me know what you think
1. Two magnifica's. If at all possible, male and female.
Leaning heavily towards this and number two.
2. Merten's anemone. Mine, the purple, plus more if i can find anymore.

3. A few(2-3) Gigantea's.

4 A billion roses and regular bta's.

5. Other, let me here your other suggestions.

Also, tell me why you chose what you chose.

hey austin,

I voted for the s. mertensi(s). I saw your thread about the tank build (beautiful tank, btw), and I was curious about your return pipe's flow rate, but I can ask this question in the build thread, if you'd prefer?

Matt

Haddonis!!! One of each color...red, green, blue, purple. That would be my dream for an anem tank.

Is this cube viewable from all sides? If so, have one large rock structure in the middle, like a colmun. Then dig the bases toward each wall. return pumping in the middle of the rock column.

Just my suggestion, but if you have the time, money, and patience for a 240 cube, that is how I'd do it...:)

Veiwable from three sides. Not the back.
Thevillageidiot:
We can discuss the rest in the build thread.

hey, I'm all for the 2x H. Magnifica's. Get two of them big enough and on a rock island and throw in a mated pair of pink skunks and with enough realistate (sp?) for a few more non-maters. that'd be a site to see.

I was split between 1 and 2... ;o)

I think you should decide on what type of clowns you really want first. Your anemone will depend on the clowns.

I voted for two or three giganteas. Maybe seperated by low rock walls. You might even get them to spawn. They grow their babies internally.

Big enough? If i go mag's. I have possible access to a 3+ft mag that has been in captivity for 3 years. She is huge! So that will be one

As for clowns. Havent decided. Possible nigripes. Not sure yet. I should make a poll for that two lol. Clowns will depend on specie of anemone kept.

Phender: The clowns will depend on anemone. I like them all so im not really partial.
Also, if i do go with gigantea's or magnificas would it be more benificial to run a closed loop for them, or possibly something along the lines of the tunze wavebox's.

A pair of H mags would be very cool. Then when they split, you can justify getting a larger cube :D
Or, like cschweitzer said, a bunch of haddonis, like "wall to wall carpeting"

If I had the money and the room, I would go with wave boxes. I have never seen them in action, but in general sloshing is much more natural for the anemones.

if you decide to go this route, check w/ Mr. Vitko over in the TUNZE forum. He can give you some advice on how many WB would be optimal for your setup.

i would go H. Magnificas, or Gigantea's. Wave boxes are awesome, i would def. go with one if at all possible.

You know what I voted for :). My only issue is that a spawning event might crash the system.

Next weekend I should be getting a bunch of our tiny skunks back from the breeder who raised some of my fry. I'll hopefully post pics of a swarm of them in a mag for inspiration :)

Coolness. Waiting on those pics.
About the crash, Did you read what skimmer i'm running?
Its huge, rated for 300-1000g of water. I'm hoping that may help. Along with having a ton of saltwater ready made for a big waterchange. Any idea's on that cindy?

I agree completly i have seen allot of waveboxes in action and they are very effective but for that size tank you would need at least two of them Rodger of course would help with placement.

the OM will have great random flow and the WaveBoxes with it it would be the perfect swaying motion for the big anems

oh and i vote onyx if its gigantea and something really rare if its magnificas :)

I'll second the waveboxes, they produce a great pulsed flow through the tank, but like VillageIdiot said, check with Roger to see how to configure them for a cube tank (might need the wavebox extension, I don't know)....
If you wanted to do tunze streams or something like that, in theory it might be possible to make some sort of box out of plastic eggcrating to put them in.... I dunno, just an idea for more flow...
