What are Looking for from the LFS?

I want to pose a question to everyone here, What types of things would you like the LFS to order in? would you pre order things that may be harder to find if they could get it? if the LFS told you what they had available to order from there suppliers would you be willing to add to the order? I do not want this post to be a negative towards the LFS and this is not the area to pick on the LFS. If you would like to see a bigger variety when orders come in, make your requests, lets tell these guys what we want.

let me begin, i am looking for a 4" Purple Rim Capicornus.

I would like to see more "frag" sized pieces of corals and bulbs... I want to see more bulbs in and not just in 10k. Loose mushrooms and more leathers I would like to see stocked. I also would enjoy seeing a different variety of zoos out since I'm pretty sure that they arent all just yellow right? hehe

I also, would like to see a better selection of frags. Also, more SPS! Corals in other colors other than BROWN.

I would like to see more rare fish, but that might be a small market. Also the equipment selection stinks, in this whole town there probably only 8-10 protein skimmers for sale and not in the size I need I have very little patience and I'm all for instant gratification so if they have equipment I need for a reasonable cost I would buy it right there and not wait for the Internet. I'm talking about prices that aren't double what you find on the internet, I understand overhead and volume pricing online but Rio pump that pumps 1200gph shouldn't cost $180.

In regards to being able to see a list and pre-order I would be willing to tell them what I was interested in but not in commiting to buy it. One of the reasons that it doesn't bother me to pay more for livestock at the LFS as opposed to mail order is that I get to see everything and if I don't like it I don't have to buy it. I enjoy zoanthids and I can tell you after making many trips to the LFS and seeing some of the zoas that come in as "super color" I would prefer to wait and see them as opposed to commiting to buy based on a deescription.

I know that AP is going to be putting in some novelty tanks and I think that will be interesting, things like nudibrancs, cucumbers, urchins, etc.

I was told by someone that used to work a LFS that sometimes the LFS can get actual pics of specialty items before order so you can actually see what it is you are getting. Kind of like the web with LFS support.

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to take a moment and let you know that we are listening to your wants, and that we are in the process of trying to accomadate them. Please keep it coming and continue talking to Joe or Dave letting them know what you are looking for. This is your store so let us know what you want and we can work together to make it a reality...

I would love to see more frags in the $10-15 range. I like spending less, and I get more satisfaction out of watching something grow from a small specimen.

We will be setting up a coral propagation lab within the next couple of months, I am crunching the numbers for it right now. When it is complete we will be offering frags in those price ranges. Hang in there and we will make it happen. I am also running the numbers for doing tank maintenance. If anyone is interested please contact us so that we can put you on the list, as our intial list will be limited to 30 clients.
Thanks,

I would like to see some of the really nice aquacultured bali acros. They are really nice sized colonies that have great colors and are very affordable. The stores down in Kansas City sell them for betweem 49-79 $ Since I am mostly SPS, it is what I am most interested in. I think I would rather buy them in town than have to order online or travel to Kansas city or up to Sioux Falls to get them. Also have a Trough set up with some nice HIQ 14-20k lighting would bring out the colors in them and really help sell them.

I am always searching for Blue Reef Chromis. No one ever carries them, or they don't get enough in and other people scoop them up. So more of those please:)

also, more wrasses. there are so many different kinds, they can appeal to so many different people, please carry more.
