What are somethings that cause's rbtas to bleach?

Lets see..um
Too much light
Not enough light
Not eating
Anemone fish that is too big for it.
Bad water conditions.

If there is some thing I missed I'm sure some one else will chime in.

Hmm the only one that sounds right to me is bad water condition but whats considered bad? All corals, fish are doing well. And my rbta was not bleached to begin with until I added ICH ATTACk thats when it started to bleach. I did a 10% water change and ran carbon afterwards. And continues with bi-weekly water changes. The rbta bleaching isn't getting worst nor is it getting any better. It still eats, has not moved. So I am puzzled.....

I don't care what the bottle says, I would never treat ick with inverts in the main tank. Have a feeling that adding that to the tank stressed it out.

All you can do now is keep the water in check and wait.

I haven't gotten a chance to take a look into the parems and I need to update my info I have a 250 SE MH. And this rbta came from a tank with a 250w halide as well.

Its been 2-3weeks since I tossed that stuff in my tank and the rbta seems perfectly fine to me besides bleaching and it did how ever shrink in size a little. Mouth is still shut tight. I had to learn the hardway theres pretty much no reef safe medicine

yeah it is best to take all fish out and put them in a QT. Ich attack didn't seem to help my Chrysopterus in my QT. So, I used cupramine that was recommended by most top aquarist. With in 24 hours I saw an improvement and now I don't see any visible spots. I have to keep them cupramine treated for 14 days which will be next wednesday. If you got ich infected fish..use cupramine..it is safe for even the most sensitive fish. I am now a believer:D

Well I don't have ich anymore now, so I'm trying to figure out ways to help my rbta retain its red. But thanks for the helpful advice on the treatment.

That is good to hear that your fish don't have ich anymore:)

Well, when I first got my gbta it was a little bleached. It was under 2 150w MH lights, I fed it shrimp once ever third day and then it slowly turned to a bright green after a couple of months. How long has yours been bleached? It can take a a few months to get it to retain its color again. As long as its still eating and under a good lights.

Unfortunately while I was in school summer of 07 I lost this beauty.
