What are streams

There must be a link or somthing that out-lines what the steam pumps do.
I've read somthing like there a more reef friendly pump but can they move water up pipes and not destroy plankton?

you could have a look at www.tunze.com, and the news section. there are some details on streams.

But they are pumps that use a propeller rather then the normal impeller, and they do not like back pressure so I doubt they could be used to drive water down long runs of pipe or pump against any real head.

Streams are a new generation of powerhead that uses a propeller rather than an impeller to pump a high volume of water under very low pressure. They are only for use in tank and cannot be used as return pumps. There are two types- the Electronic 6000 and 6100 and the Synchronous 6060 and 6080. The synchronous models are like any other pump with a three pin grounded plug. The Electronic pumps work on low voltage and have a variable speed. The Electronic pumps can be operated on our controllers. The Synchronous pumps cannot be uysed on any controller or wavemaker as all Streams have a centrifugal clutch to ensure they only spin in the correct direction- frequent stop and start destroys this mechanism.

Hey the link don't work....
rvitko how low voltage are they, I heard someone say tunze makes the lowest rated pump volt wise.
little bit expensive but all probally end up buying them.
BTW im talking about the electronic 6000 series.
Info on the 6800 would be good as well.
hold on save you some troble all just try to look for that myself.

There appears to more then just 6000 6100 6080 and what ever they look adjustable as well??(up down correct).
Tehy also seem to pump more water then I'd like I use deep sand bed, are they even compatible.

6080 and 6060 cannot be adjusted- they are synchronous which means they spin in sync to line frequency- 60Hz or 60 turns per second. 6100 and 6000 are controllable between 30% and 100% of output. I think you are confusing watts and volts. Tunze pumps are the lowest wattage for the flow- wattage is the big issue that is what generates heat. The 6000 is 12V, the 6100 is 19V for the US, for european customers 6100 is 20V. You should be able to find page after page on Streams if you run a search on RC. The Tunze website is being updated and so it may be down intermittently.
