What are these?

Well that rock was only in my tank for a day and a half. And the rock was small. But there was no point In letting it get outa hand. I'm FAR from made of money but I'd rather take the chance on loosing $20 worth of coral than having that stuff take over my tank. Because treating a large amount would probably cost more than the $20 coral. But the coral seem to be doing fine now too. So I'm happy with my choice :)

I did cook it but still decided that it wasn't worth the risk

if you properly cooked the rock there would no issues putting it back in the tank....

FWIW, cooking the rocks does not at all involve hot water...in fact placing the rocks in boiling water could have very serious effects on your health...properly done it takes a month or more to "cook" rocks...

peppermint shrimps dont eat always aiptasia.. you have differents methodes to kill them... i often use vinegar with a injection into their mouth when i had them. or you can stir a bit water and calciumhydroxide .. and burn them away with that.

Killing Aiptasia

Killing Aiptasia

Go to the drug store and get a small needle and syringe. Buy some liquid calcium (available from Kent and elsewhere). When the aiptasia is fully extended, push the needle into the center and inject with the calcium. I have used this method and have had 100% success. A couple times I had to them twice but probably because I missed on my first try.
The calcium will not hurt your chemistry in the tank.
I have had others suggest lemon juice but I am not sure of all the consequences of using such a high acid liquid.

calciumhydroxide you can buy at the drugstore too... its a white powder you use to make calciumwater.. so it wont harm other corals
