Sorry I don't get on here as much as I would like. I guess it is a personal preference if you like the painted fake rock . I do have some. In my tank, I buried most of it because I don't like the fake look. I do have about 70 lbs of real live rock. That I had found on ebay. It has been cleaned so there is no life in it. But at least it looks real. As far as the Mercury in the water was caused from the painted rock. The owner of a lfs was telling about a customer of his that purchased a very large amount of the rock. I don't remember the quantity. But I do remember it was a few hundred lbs. Very large tank. He removed the rock and problem solved. Sorry I don't have more info than that. The dead live rock that purchased was $7 -$8 per lbs. Which is what I had paid for real figi lr 25 yrs ago
