What are you feeding your corals?

I have been using reef chili for about 5 months. I use it twice a week. The corals seem to like it, I get polyp extention when I feed. I like to feed in the evenings so the night eating corals get their fill. My fish also love it. I have not seen any negative effects.

I feed mine light

in addition to strong light (50k halide) and butt loads of calcium (keep mine at 425-450) I dose 2-3 times a week with 20-30 ml. of pythoplankton that I culture myself. It's super easy and I noticed a major stunt in my sps growth when I stopped using it for 2 months.

That actually sounds like an excellent topic for our next meeting, HOW TO: culture your own phyto, with a demonstration of the process and fabrication techniques. What do you guy's think???

Since I just posted this on the SPS thread, it was a simple cut and paste:

Recently, I began feeding more with a concoction of different foods: 1tsp each Reefnutrition Phytofeast, Rotifers, Tiggerpods, 2tsp of DTs Phyto, a pinch of cyclopeeze, 1 SF Bay Mysid, thumbnail size of P.E. Mysids, and one cube of sugar to combat this mix of pollution.

Done daily to every other varies on how the colors look.

Hey Treesmoker how much of that green water can you culture at a time? I ran through my two small bottle quick and would be more interested in getting a couple of 2L bottles for home and work. I seeded my tank with Tiggerpods, but damn, I thought gas was expensive. $25 at the LFS for 6oz.
I'm looking for some good phyto for my corals and clams.
Whats a 2L bottle run now days?

Coral feeding

Coral feeding

I feed my corals homegrown phytoplankton as well as rotifers and copepods I culture. I dose calcium, Iodide, and a little strontmium and moly. My corals grew very slow but exploded after adding the phyto daily along with copepods and rotifers added to my refugium every week.

Yep, that's what I'm sayin! YOU GOTTA FEED YOU CORALS! There are so many differant strains of phyto you really have to do some experimenting. Also Good skimmer is a mustwhen dosing in a high volume or high frequency.

Jamesgangg- I really don't like selling to my club members. when it's soooooo easy and take little to no up keep! You set it up and let it go. My little presentation will be somewhat crude but will display a DIY culturing set up for under $5 !!!

ATTN: stop giving your money to the man!!! Start culturing your own phyto!!! LOL

Dude I wrote in another thread that the Reef Gods don't want me at the meetings. The last two I have duty and the next one I'll be in Lewiston for my wifes birthday.
Make sure you go over the directions well enough that Clay can understand them, then he can show me how.

Maybe I'll be at the August meeting
