What are you using for a refugium light?

Ryan-

I'm thinking that your lights are mounted alot higher up than most people "clamp" on. Do you have a par meter...I should of checked it when I was there. Due to the heighth of your lights, I'm thinking your losing alot of light. How old are the bulbs? Was there ever a time that you were pruning algae out by the buckets, regularly? If so, was it with the exact same set-up as now?

Bulbs are 3 years old but it has never grown well. I will adjust the lights down closer and see if that helps.

I use the WavePoint LED for my fuge. I've got one on a planted tank as well. It's an affordable light with enough power to grow cheato or even some corals. You see them on nano tanks a lot. They are water proof, meaning sealed up so you could drop it in the water (done that) and low heat of course.

Hmmm I using the same light and cheap HD clip on reflector as a few of you. Wonder why I cant grow chateo and now my month old culpera is not looking so hot. Oh well matches my corals :)

Have you checked your RO membrane lately? I didn't realize that mine was going bad which is why I was having so many problems with my last tank.

I would definitely recommend new bulbs. Power compact technology for creating light has one of the greatest drop off curves with usage. Within two months of use, output drops close to 50%...

So, would it suffice to say that a 10000K powercompact is the wrong bulb to have over a fuge? My cheato growth sucks.
