What are your Nitrate Readings

Hello all. Was wondering what your nitrate readings are in your FOWLR's? What do think is an acceptable amount of nitrates? What means are you using, and with how much success are you lowering nitrates in your display? Thanks, Tim

Mine are at about 30 right now cause I had to fix something with my skimmer so it wasn't running for a few days and I just added a new fish. Ideally it should be under 5 on a growing tank like mine. An established tank fully stocked with adults I think you'd be safe around 20-25. I run 1300 GPH through my sump which is filtered through a micron sock, then by my protein skimmer, and then sent either to the DT or to my fuge. My fuge, home to a big ball of Chaeto, then feeds to to the return area as well. I also do weekly 10% water changes with ro/di.

Hey Tim - my nitrates are at 0. I keep a ton of live rock for biological filtration (total of almost 300#'s now). I also modded my ASM G3 and have Chaeto in the refugium helping to lower any traces of nitrates.

I think that an acceptable level for nitrates is around 20-30 but no more for angels.

Nitrates can go up fast! I haven't measured them in a month+. I bet they are screaming. The more 0 the level the better, but getting there takes the right setup.....fuge+super skimmer+water changes. When my tank was going strong with 200+ lbs of lr and a shitty skimmer I was doing 75 gallons a week and still had about 40 by the end of the week from 10 at the beginning. No fuge though.
