What Brand of Salt are you Using in Your TBS Tank?

Instant Ocean seems to work well for my tank. I buy it in the 48 lb bucket and that will mix 160 gals. It doesn't clump in the bucket and when I test calcium, the water is always at 400 - 450 ppm without using any additives.

Once I bought Instant Ocean in a bag and that stuff clumped really bad which made it hard to work with when it came time for water changes...

Instant Ocean in the 5 gallon (48lbs) buckets. If you order two online from pet smart its free shipping and they usually have online coupons. I think I got two buckets to my door for $50.

Well I've used Seachem Reef Salt for over 10 yrs. but just recently switched to using Red Sea Salt in all my tanks a couple months ago.

How/where did you get your online coupon?

I just did a google search for petsmart coupons, found 10 bucks off on 60, and they have free shipping online, so I ended up with 2 buckets of IO to the door for 67 bucks, tax included. I know its not 50 but I cant go out and get it, tote it, with gas over 3 bucks a gal. Thought that was a pretty good deal

Just an FYI........

Instant Ocean is a good salt and extremely popular, however you will have to compensate for the low calcium and magnesium for many tanks. IO mixed up to 1.0264 typically tests out at about 350-360PPM calcium and about 1100PPM mag, and even lower if you mix to a lower specific gravity.

I use Instant Ocean Reef Crystals based on the recommendation of the LFS. So far it's good, but I'm brand new and don't know what I'm doing yet.
