it's not a snail, but have you tried Marine SAT? It's not a chemical, it's a bacteria, it's made by TLC. I've used this on a couple of tanks with bad hair algae and it's made a world of difference.

mexican turbo snails love HA if its short. my suggestion if its more than 1 inch in length is, to hand remove as much as possible before adding the snails.
use cold tap water in a large bowl untill has been rinsed (about 2 min.) of any type of cleaning residue. then fill it about half way, and pull the HA out and place it in the bowl. the cold tap water will kill any spores releasd on your hands that could possibly bring more HA.
