hey all :) Ive had these polyps(?) for about a month. theyve grown about 5 new heads in that time!! My question is.. in the last few days it keeps stretching its 'skin' and I know that by the end of today its going to fall off. what can i do?

can i glue it on the rock? what kind of glue? do i have to let it dry out of the water? Id like to glue it on the same rock the rest of them are on....

(they are still closed cause the light just came on... easier to see the problem

A couple of thoughts.............
Could they be stretching to get more light? looks like they are at the bottom of the tank..........what kind of lighting do you have? Also..........that white "stuff" at the base...........that is not part of the colony. It looks like something trying to grow on/aroud the polyps........maybe a sponge??? I am not sure what it is but, try blasting the colony clean with a turkey baster. It looks like the polyps are trying to pull away from that white growth. I have the smae polyp colony in my tank, and there is NO white growth at the base of any of them.
HTH..............Herbie

I think TOURKID may have been referring to the thin strip of tissue between the lower left and upper right colonies. The lower left one is going to split from the rest. Anyway, are you sure that it isn't already attached to the rock it is on? If not, the simplest way is to use cyanoacrylate based superglue and glue them to a rock (USE GLOVES--Palytoxin is the most deadly naturally occurring nonprotein toxin in the world!!!)

yeah, the white tissue. it just started stretching when all the new poylps started growing. It isent attached, i lightly hit it with a turkey baster and its about to fall off. underneath it, it sorta looks like there are roots, but they arent attaching. this superglue.. is it at a heardware store, or fish store? do i pull the whole rock out of the water, glue it, wait a min. then put it back in?

herbie... the white stuff is surely part of the colony. I cant see how you could have these polyps without the white tissue, thats what the polyps grow out of. cool tho hu? they are nice and big :)

ok. Ill do a search for this glue in the mean time. I guess if it keeps this up Ill just have to learn to frag :D

You should be able to find it anywhere that sells superglue--it is very common. Also be sure that you get superglue GEL, as it makes things much easier. If you need to know if it is cyanoacrylate based, just look on the back. It will say "contains cyanoacrylate" or something similar. And yes, just take out the rock you want to attach it to, glue it, leave it for a minute, and place it back into the tank. Be sure to dry them and keep them from sliming too much so the glue will stick--and wear gloves. I would even throw some fresh carbon in afterwards.

its literally hanging by a thread now lol Ill be getting the glue this afternoon. also have two new coarls on the way from live aquaria should be in within an hour

Might wait on the glue until coarls are adjusted if im going to possibly pollute the tank. I have carbon running now, but its getting close to needing changed

you think if i just set the polyps somewhere in a low flow zone they'll attach themselves?

gosh. it never ends lol got my corals. my captive bred star mat came with a crab eating the starmatt. just caught the crab. dont know what to do with it..... dont wanna flush him.... dont have a sump or refugium. :(

its still hanging on. the first hermit to walk by it is gonna snap it tho.
