what causes this?

I'm noticing some of my zoos are turning brown/dead, not just this colony. The colonies are from many different sources, and purchased at different periods of time. Anyone experience this?

I have, yet to figure this one out. I saw this happened and I would cut the spots out but it spreaded so I dipped it. Long story short... some of them don't look so good now. In fact, the colony looks like crap.

NICE zoos BTW!

:D Thank you. It seems to affect only a few, and doesn't spread (at least I don't think unless it is at a slow rate). It really has become a mysetery to me.

what's your salinity? I've seen exactly the same thing happen when zoos are exposed to any salinity over 1.026, even if only for a short period of time

Check for aiptasia. i had a similiar problem occur when my first colony of button polyps was continuously touched by an aiptasia polyp.

organism, you know what? I think you just solved my problem. My salinity's been high lately in the 1.024 area lately. I'm going to bring it down and see if that helps. My tank is aiptasia free luckily, thanks to a copperband I had for a brief moment. :p
