What changed when you got an Mp40?

Where's The Reef?
Hello fellow Stik Fans,

I am having serious doubts about my flow, I have 2 Koralia 1400's, +900gph return.I am looking into the Mp40, 2 of them to be exact.

Was there any noticeable big difference when you switched to the Mp40?
(I.E. Polyp Extension, growth, coloration.)

I had 4 koralia 1250s, i think they were. 2 Mp40s absolutely blew them away as far as random strong flow throughout the tank. The upsurge alone impressed me when I first got them.

I had two Hydor Evo 1400s on full time...and as my acro colonies got larger, I felt I was not getting the flow I had when my tank was more bare...I replaced one with a MP40...in a day or two the cyano spots on the left side of my tank behind my rocks cleared out...right side still had cyano consistantly...

About two months later, I replaced the remaining evo 1400 with a second MP40...in a few days all cyano in the tank dead spots was gone. Also, I have a purple/green monticulosa whose polyps hadnt been out fully in months...About 3 days after adding the second MP40, I noticed a significant improvment in polyp extension.

I had a temp drop of a few degrees in my tank when I switched to MP40's.
Plus as said above, dead spots disappear.

I recently decided to do a sps/mixed reef on my tank build that I started 5 months ago, and so I started with using a mp40w and a mp10w from the beginning. Personally I love my pumps and run them in nutrient transport mode 24/7 and my previous tanks that I've had come no where close to being as clean as my current tank. If you have a open rock scape where flow can get anywhere then having these pumps is a sure fire way to have close to no detrius build up. I switch between the two ecosmart modes and have had great results, but I mainly use NTM due to the multiple phases and for the fact that it's designed for SPS growth and detrius removal, just make sure that the slave pump is operating on the correct color (orange for directly across from master, teal for back of aquarium, and white for same side as master). I think you will be happy about your choice, enjoy!

I changed to the mp60s after getting tired of replacing wet sides. I never had to replace the wet side of the 3 mp 60s I use.
