What cheap things will do for a frag tank?

Scored a nice 55, and I have a nice T5 6-bulb.

Cheap powerheads on eBay?

Should I have a wave maker controller like a hydor?

And should I have a skimmer? Will a nano do for just softies and two clownfish?

I'll probably run a small sump full of rock and algae. Maybe my old hob filter with an in-tank refugium under it. All stuff left over from my main tank.

What types of corals do you plan on keeping in it? Most corals will benefit from fluctuating currents with random flow variations so some type of controllable powerheads are strongly recommended. Cheap powerheads are rarely a best buy and end up costing you more money in the long run when you finally realize you really should have purchased quality equipment in the first place. If you want to save some money buy quality used equipment rather than some cheaply made eBay knock-off.

Will be mostly zoas and shrooms. Maybe some monti. Yeah, I'll get decent powerheads. Mostly concerned with the skimmer.
