Well looks like I'm in the market for a chiller. I have a 120 reef with halide lighting . Looking for a reliable, non-noisy chiller that is capable of maybe a 20 degree pull down. Sound like to much to ask? Maybe you all can help me pick one. I'm looking for advice on different manufactures you would recommend.

Aqualogic 1/3 HP, top notch build quality, the best compressor....as far as noise goes, thats rather subjective. For what it does, I would say its fairly quiet.

so you think a 1/3 hp would be enough?? I dont want to overwork the unit, but at the same time dont want to overkill this.

I have a Current 1/3 tower on my 46g bowfront.. I'm running MH 2X150w. I keep my tank at 80 degrees. My chiller runs about 20 times a day for about 5-6 minutes to pull down the temp. I live in Florida so my house is around 75 - 78 degrees on any given day. This chiller runs well and is quite "i guess" as far as chillers go. They remind me of an A/C unit on a house. I mean to say it will "kick on" and hum for a while then shut off.

1/3 HP on a 120gal is plenty as long as you have the unit placed in a cool, well-ventilated house. I used a 1/3 HP Tradewinds Chiller on my 190 gal system all summer and it did an excellent job keeping the temps under 79.
