What Clams For A 20 Gallon???

well, please do a little research on the care and requirements before you buy 10 clams. the reason why people say not too many is because they have a high demand for calcium and alkalinity, which can be quickly depleted in a tank of that size. the 24 gallon with 12 in there is probably manually dosing 2 part solution on a daily basis, or is running a mini calcium reactor of some sort to help keep critical parameters steady. otherwise it is just a bad idea.

you should be fine then. remember though smaller maximas are some of the most difficult to keep. (under 2 inches)

i know about that, i plan on getting my water quality to picture perfect then getting one that is 2" or bigger. i no the little ones need to be fed phyto and have poor survival rates.

the phyto feeding for young clams is a myth. clams can survive solely on light alone from the minute they are born, although phyto/zoo plankton feeding is probably beneficial.
