Hey guys, we're starting to get quite a bit of hairalgae on the glass, sandbed, and rock work.

it's a 65G, cleaners right now are, serpant star, 8blue hermits, 2 astrea snails, 3 Nerte snails, cleaner shrimp, 2 peppermint shrimp.

The snails have never once gone on the liverock, even when putting them in the tank and placing them on it, they seem to make there way back to the glass within an hour or 2.

Whats the best cleaner to eat hair algae

Thanks!

A refugium.

The hair algae comes from the phosphate in your live rock. WHen you uptake it, the hair algae, and other algaes that will follow it, will simply die out.

Snails will prefer the glass. Shrimp don't eat algae. Neither does a serpent star [hope that guy is b/w and not green.] An urchin would do it but would knock your rockwork over. A fuge is just a lot less work and repair of rock.

A large sea hair will destroy it but you must remove it as soon as the hair is gone. You must also do water changes and get a fuge

hes not black and white, nor green. hes a tan colour, hasn't disturbed anything or anyone yet. theres no crabs that will eat this algae? I won't have the money to set up a fuge, for at least another month (in school right now). is there no easier way? besdies picking it out myself lol

scarlet hermitts, salty lightfoot.

Be careful though, you might not be able to get a lightfoot out if you want to.

our lights arre going for 10hrs on the 10K and 12 hours on atinics, could this be a reason its shooting off so much, any reccommendations as to how long to set them for?
