lfs called it red. I thought I had rpes, but what I thought were rpes are more brown....this is 2 pics of the new ones...with and without flash...thanks, grey

Looks like RPE to me also. You are running only 10k thats why they look a tad brown. Add some blue actnic and you will see the color change. How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking? I've noticed some of my LFS are selling these also on the same type of frag disc yours is on.

Where are they from, Casey (Em Bay)? There two types of RPE's out there. The ones on zoaid ID'd as RPE and the ones on zoaid ID'd as OPE's. I have both now and the difference is that the ones ID'd as RPE's are like the first ones you got from the Critter. The ones ID'd as OPE can be red or orange depending on lighting. Under lower K values, they tend to look more orange, but once they acclimate under higher K value lighting, they turn a bright almost metallic red. The OPE-true RPE's have a circular section just around the mouth that is obvious when compared to the other RPE's you have. I had mine under 12K's and they were still orangish, but under 15K's they are starting to turn more red. I need to come by and raid your tank again

They look black with taupe skirts and a cerulean mouth to me.
