hi all

im setting up a ric/mushie frag tank

it is a 30l x 12w x 15h so bout 20 gal

the lighting will be 2 36w PC triton tubes and a 25w t8 actinic all with induvidual reflectors

the flow would be a 900lph powerhead on its own, do you think this would be good enough?

so what else should i do to encourage super mad growth, seeing i have never kept a ric in my life please help me out lol

should i dose iodine? would this help

thanks in advance

Start yourself out with some Floridas when it's time to add livestock. They are very hardy and tolerant unless your very foolish with water parameters. Stay away from Yuma's untill you have some experience. At least stay away from very expensive and rare Yuma's. I don't recommend them at all unless you have some experience and read anything you can get your hands on. forums and books. Your lighting should be fine. Your waterflow will be fine. On a mushroom species tank you would want a lower water flow. Enough to keep the aquarium from going stagnant and provide surface agitation but don't be crazy. Iodine is fine. Don't overdose. On a tank your size one drop of lugols a week is almost overdoing it a bit. For super mad growth you will need to feed them when they are hungry. How do you know when they are hungry you ask? If they cup toward the light they may be a bit hungry for food and light. But, you don't really know untill you feed them and they eat. If they are not hungry they will move the food to the edge and let it go. They seem like snakes. Eat a good meal and they are satiated for a while. They can catch and eat some of the small things in your tank. They are somewhat sticky like anemone's to certain food or prey items but feel slimy and slippery when you touch them.
