What controller do you guys use?

Or, set it up before you go on vacation so mom only has to feed...just a thought :D

I thought about that too, but if something needs to be adjusted my Mom is about as computer literate as I am in reading chinese. I'm a twinkie and don't speak a lick of chinese..lol My Dad is a physician, but he's like Tim the Tool man Taylor when it comes to gadgets. He loves them, but is always breaking things trying to do it himself. I'll come home and the Apex would be running the pool filter and garbage disposal:)

Alright guys,

Here's my two options and I'm going to choose hopefully by this afternoon. Jon(Mayjong) has a 8 month old RKE(Plus) with an extra PC4, so it can handle up to 12 devices for $300. There's another guy on the sales thread that is selling his brand new Apex with WXX(Vortech Module) and a Breakout box for $520. I've heard the Apex controllers are a little better, but I'm not sure what one I want. I'm leaning more towards Jon's due to economics, but if the Apex is worth it I'll spend the extra money.

Any thoughts on what you guys would do?

Thanks guys,
Chris

499 for apex, 125 for wxm, 80 for breakout box. That's a pretty good deal especially if it's brand new. Do you have the vortechs to take advantage of the wireless module?

Yeah, I have 2 MP10's in my 45 gallon and thought it would be pretty cool to setup different modes throughout the day and nite:)

omg , what a deal!
i would take the RKE for $300 for sure!
:)

lol..It's such a hard decision bro, but whether I take your controller or buy the other one. I'm sure someone will swoop up on your deal:)

I'm just trying to figure out what would work best for me in the long run:)

Well, I decided to go with the Apex setup because a new setup worth $700 for $520 seemed hard to pass up.

By the way, anyone interested in a nice RKE (Plus) setup with extra PC4 for $300 is an awesome deal. Check out Jon's(Mayjong) for sale listing. Jon's a great guy to deal with...

I'm sure I'll be back on here when I get the Apex because it seems a little complicated to setup, so I may need some of you software engineers assistance..lol

Nice.. It's pretty easy to learn the programming language. The Apex's programming language is a little different from the AC3 but I could probably help you figure it out.

@Paul, I'd trust Christian, but he's coming to the Caribbean with us. We'll be celebrating his 4th birthday, which means we've been reefing for 3 years now:) Sarah regrets it everyday:)

@Ken, yeah I may need some of your help with the configurations when I get back into town. I'll pm you when I get back and maybe you could swing by to help me set it up. I'll pay you in frags:)

@Ferdie, thanks for the link. I'll check it out
