What could this be?

Hi guys. I had alittle bit of hard times the past 3 days in my tank.

I bought a blue chromis to go with my tomato clown..basically to keep the tank going..Both ate fine yesterday, however after i came home from a gig, about 4 hours later, the chromis lay dead on the bottom with the hermit crab taking his share. I wasnt too upset, as the LFS i bought it from isnt too keen on SW fish, and im just trying to keep a FOWLR tank giong. I monitor it CONSTANTLY since im near it, so if something is amiss i can take care of it. If i had the room i would do a QT tank.

I asked my family they said they saw the thing swimming around fine not too long ago. They noticed because of its beutiful color.

Anyways.

Today i notice my tomato clown has a weird white puff around his lips, and he wont close/move his mouth. i immediatly thought Columnis..only its not fluffy, it looked more like he had 2 chunks of salt on his mouth, which made no sense to me. Immediately i researched mouth fungus, and saw pictures, and this wasnt it. By the time i checked the tank again, some of it disappeared. He just ate a few mintues ago, with a tiny bit hangin on his bottom lip. Its more IN the mouth than out, but appears to be going away.

Of corse that doesnt releive me. What the heck was it? Hes not breathing weird or anything, and hes pretty darn healthy if i do say so.

Thanks in advance guys!
