What critters will keep my sand clean?

Hi all,

My LR is apparently pretty sterile--no pods, no bristleworms, nothing crawling around on the sand at all except for something that resembles green cyano. :(

What can I do to populate my sandbed with some sand-stirring critters that will help keep it nice and white? I got about a 1/2 dozen ceriths, but they spend all their time on the glass and LR and NEVER burrow into the sand!

Can I buy pods and bristleworms at the LFS? Would a conch help?

get nass. snails they do a great job in the sand, also maybe a small tigertail cucumber but it will get pretty big for a 26 gal. tank. i haven't heard of any fish stores that sell worms or such though however seacrop.com sells them

Your sand will be full of worms, pods etc in time once the tank starts to mature.

As far as snails go, I would get some nassarious, nerite snails.

OK, thanks! I'll get some nassarius snails this weekend. I'm not familiar with nerite snails, but I'll do some research before going to the LFS.

y'know, i've read those three articles each three times, and i still learn new stuff each read through. They really are packed with info, and I feel guilty for saying it, but I never really valued the life of a snail much before reading Dr. Ron's articles. Now they seem much cooler.
