What do I do now?

Ok I have my tank setup the way I think its suppose to be. I have the protien skimmer in the first chamber of the sump, some sand and rock in the second chamber and the pump that sends water back up into the tank in the third chamber.

what do I do now to get everything started? do I fill the sump up and the tank up with water and then plug everything in? do i need to fill the tank all the way up with water to check the plumbing for leaks or can i just pour water over into the overflow?

If it's reef ready, just fill it all up and turn it on. Might not be a bad idea to fill the sump with nothing On to check for leaks there, then fill the tank and let it trickle into the sump to check for leaks there (tough to find many when there isn't much pressure in the system, though). These are the two easiest ones to check and correct. The hard leaks come into play when you plug it in. I'm a glutton for punishment, though, so I'd just fil it up and turn it on and inspect for leaks.

If it isn't reef ready (external overflow), you'll have to fill everything up, then get the siphon started in the overflow box (clear air from the U tubes). When there is little or no air in the U tubes, crank it up and let it flow.

Ok I think I have everything hooked up right and I think its all working but OMG this is loud. So I tracked the noise and its coming from the air hose on the protien skimmer. Instructions say there is suppose to be an air intake silencer I plug the hose into but there isnt one in all this stuff. So does anyone have an suggestions to make this thing quieter?

if you have all the parts to a maxi jet.. they have one and so do rios...maybe some cotton for a short time fix

Yeah, those air intakes can be loud. I put a small air pump on mine and it made noise, but not as much as the air coming into the hose, even with the silencer on it.

Ok no laughing but I am having a simple problem that I cannot seem to overcome. I have one of those power strips with a timer on it. One side of the strip would be on the timer and the other is constantly on. We I set it up with what I thought was correct settings but it didnt come on when it was suppose to the next morning. So I swapped it and it still didnt work. I am at a loss. If you want the lights on are the little tabs suppose to be up during that time or down?

Are you talking about those walmart timers??? IF so, they should be down during the period you want it on. You have to push all the tabs down for the period you want it on. Let's say you want it on at 8am to 8pm, you have to push all the tabs from 8am-8pm down, the remaining tabs that are not pushed will be the off time.

no i think he means the coralife power center power strip.....

the 4 white background plugs on it are constant on plugs. the 2 blue plugs are nighttime plugs & the 2 yellow plugs are daytime plugs. on the timer wheel, tabs up is yellow on/blue off & tabs down is yellow off/blue on.

i have that strip & my dislike of it is there is now way to have them all off for certain times......to do that you have to get the dual timer one

I have the digital one that's why I didn't know what she was talking about the tab things..... I have only seen the digital ones I didn't know they have the tab to press thing......lol
