What do you feed your BTA?

I have a RBTA and I feed it brine shrimp twice a week. Plus whatever other fish food floats his way (plankton and flake).

What do yoy feed yours and what do they seem to like best?

BTW-mine seems to be quite happy with what I'm feeding it. My maroon clown does not seem to feed it though.

Unless you're feeding enriched brine, probably not doing it much good. They like meaty foods like silversides (as stated) or raw, deveined shrimp. I do the shrimp 2-3 times a week. Not huge pieces, maybe 1/2" pieces.

newbie here, so may be a dumb question, but what are silversides? and where does one buy them? i am looking into buying a bta very soon. thanks,
muzz

Silversides are the saltwater equivalent of minnows. Some LFs will carry them in quart size containers or you can orer them on-line. I mainly feed silversides but also use large krill occassionally for variety.

I feed mine mysis (with a baster) or raw shrimp. I have a green bubble tip (11-12" base diameter) that can get a whole piece of shrimp down in seconds and a smaller RBTA (4-5" diameter)that I feed 1/4 of a piece. I usually feed them raw shrimp once or twice a week. On rare occassions the RBTA has spit out the piece of shrimp after having swallowed it for a couple of hours and the hermits and snails have a field day. I don't know why he does that sometimes. The larger has never given it up. I have never tried silverslides but may at some point to give them more variety.

BTW: I wish my GBTA would split, he is taking over a very large portion of the left side of my tank, especially when his tentacles are long and not bubbled up, which is about half the time.

My Clarkii fed the RBTA regularily, then decided she wanted to host in a Condy and has never fed it. Go figure.
