What do you feed your corals?

I've done many searches and have found tons of products that people are using to feed their corals and wanted to see what you guys were using? I set up a 29 gallon biocube that will primarily have an anemone, mushrooms/yumas, and LPS such as frogspwans, torches, hammers, and zoas.

What would you guys suggest? And what is your routine as far as how many times a day/how often you feed coral food?

Thanks!

Reef Chili for my 20g. one scoop every 3 days. It works for me, I get good growth. I know there is others out there as well like, reef roids, coral frenzy and more.. So hopefully others can chime in.

i use oceans blend coral vibrance(hard to find nowadays) mixed with ground tetra marine flake and ground spectrum pellets. then i turn off the return and make it rain! i do this 3-5 times a month

G_Sanab922, I've been reading great reviews about Reef Chili and I am leaning towards this product. Do you turn powerheads or anything off when you feed every 3 days?

S13<3, how do you like the Oceans Blend Coral Vibrance? My friend who works at a fish store recommend this one to me as well. Is it a frozen food or how does it come?

When I spot feed yes I turn off the pumps, it's good because it brings a little bottle that mixes it and lets you spot feed with it. But most of the time I leave the powerheads on and just put a little scoop and it slowly sinks and spreads to all my corals and filter feeders. my clowns peck at it as well, so it helps it spread everywhere. Also, love seeing my porcelain crab when I use it, he comes out and just goes crazy on the reef chili

I also feed reef chili and its awesome stuff. I also feed rogger's food and lrs reef frenzy as well with great results. I mix them all together and usually add any vitamin supplements with aquavitro fuel and acropower and let them soak. then I shut off my pumps and spot feed sometimes and the response of the corals feedings have been great. I leave the pumps off for an hour and then turn on.

Not trying to be a Debbie Downer but I would hold off on feeding a new tank. This is just my opinion but I would only feed coral if there is a need. How is your nutrient control? I never fed my biocube and everything did great. I only feed now because of low nitrates and I amp it up when by corals ask for more, back it off when they start looking too good. I probably make no sense!

What's up Danny!? Definitely not feeding anything for a while. Just getting excited and starting to research what I'll be needing in the future :-) I'm not even putting fish in and it's been like a month lol I should do that soon huh? Haha All levels are at 0 so I just have a little clean up crew in there.

I feed spectrum, reef chili, Oyster feast, Dr g sps max, xoral food from h2o, 50/50 brine and blood worms from h2o and algae strip. Had a ciyano outbreak at first but kept feeding and eventually my system over ruled the nusense algae.

KZ amino acids and zeofood. Very little is needed. I also give them pohls, but that's not really food. Simple and effective..

OK. In my BioCube I started to experiment with Fuel but dropped it. In my 30 I was experiencing pale corals so I gave the KZ nano pack a try and liked it. Corals responded well. Since then I've maintained the Pohls, Sponge Power, and added K-Balance and Acropower. I also add reef roids to the fish food. I usually cycle these in my larger tank, as well as add a little MB7 and iron for the chaeto.

At the end of the day, I think a lot will depend on what your fish load, what kind of corals you keep, what your filtration system is like and how efficient it is.

Just don't add food for the sake of it. Like I said before, I add food to dirty up the water some because my filtration is doing too good of a job at stripping it.

The other thing I will add, is spot feeding LPS such as favias with either pellets or Mysis makes a huge difference in growth. Been there done that too. Only problem is you kind of have to do it lights out, and good luck keeping your clowns away from the midnight snack!

Me and my tank love the stuff, everybody goes crazy when it hits the water, from hermits to coral throwing more feeders out, my filter feeder clams open extra wide, shrimp comes out of the rock, even the fish tries to get some(which is comical to watch)! It comes as a powder, a little goes a long way! i use a little less than a 1/4tsp per feeding in my 40B

/Really?

Are there going to be any fish?
Are you going to feed them?
Whats the % of the average corals energy derived from light only?

And you going to (IMHO) waste money on some prepared/marketed products?

I know, that's a lot of questions.

In my heavy sps, some lps, some softy 180 Reef- I don't 'feed' my corals any products like that.
