What do you guys feed your tank?

I am cycling a 125 and want some advice on food to get for the tank, I want to have a tang or two, so I am going to get all three types of nori, and I see a lot of people soaking that in something, what are you soaking it in? What kinds of flakes and pellets have you guys had luck with?

Thanks in advance, links would be appreciated if possible.

The soaking is likely to be garlic or sometimes ginger. New Life Spectrum small pellets work great in my tank and everyone eats it during feeding time. Stock up on some frozen mysis and cyclop-eeze and you'll be good. Keep lots of that nori though as those tangs (and any rabbit fish) will tear it up!

Good luck!

The more variety you can offer the better.

Selcon is probably what you were thinking about as far as soaking the food goes. It's just a nutritional supplement.

I feed a combination of food...

Hikari S, hikari seaweed extreme, new life thera a, ocean nutrition formular 1 & 2, PE mysid, and reef freenzy.

I am also a fan of selcon, and mix it into my food a couple times a month.

IMO, variety is key.

The fish list is in my sig. I feed IO Gel Omnivore blend, NLS large and small pellets, flakes with garlic, shrimp pellets. For additional food for the tangs, I feed nori (unseasoned sushi wrap from the Asian market) served on a clip. I used frozen foods when I started, but they are too much of a hassle so I have not used frozen food in over 3 years for the fish in the reef tank. I do have frozen silversides and clams for my predators in the FOWLR tank. For coral I use Coral Frenzy.

Cyclops, Rotifers, Mysis, Krill and Spirulina brine all soaked in Selcon ATM. Always looking to add more variety. I also use Brightwells Reef Snow for the corals. I'm meh on it so far. Doesn't seem to do much one way or the other.

Rods food original, rods coral food, selcon, brightwells garlic (only every once in a while or for new fish), coral frenzy and sometimes dianichi pellets. I've also fed pe mysis and pe cyclops. Both are great though the mysis is a little on the big side for small fish. The new era food looks promising.

Variety is key as you'll find each fish likes different stuff. My Longnose butterfly loves Hikari Mysis and Formula one flakes, but barely touches NLS pellets which the rest gobble up. All of them go wild for Rod's. I really like to use New Era Grazers 2 -3 times a week as I have seen my tang, wrasse, angel, blenny, clowns, and chromis nibble at all during the day and great is great for during the week when I am not home for long stretches. The CB Shrimp prefers the Ocean nutrition Formula1 frozen as the gel binder lets him grab a big chunk and horde it from the other fish and hermits.

New to all of this as my tank is barely 2 months old, but i switch from flakes, frozen brine and mysis, and i.soak them in garlic,

I make my own food...

nori
squid
mussel
clam
scallop
shrimp
salmon
peas
carrots
broccoli
Mysis
krill
nutrimar ova
all blended up
