Since the search feature is disabled again, I'd like to ask you guys, what do you keep with your clams?

I am trying to figure out a stock list and clams are #1... they are beautiful! Anyway, what fish and inverts do you guys keep with your clams?

Thanks all! :)

Fish:
Tangs (blue hippo and yellow)
Pair of GSM clowns
Flameback angel (he has nipped the clams a few times, but does not seem to do it too much...)
Mandarin goby
Orange spot goby
Copperband butterfly

Inverts:
serpent star
blue linkia
hermits
snails
long tent anemone
blue carpet anemone
feather dusters
tons of corals

Cheers
Mike

Fish:
ocellaris clown
yellow neon goby

Inverts:
scarlet hermits
blue hermits
big 'ole fireworms
pods
mini brittle stars
those little 3'leg stars that divide all the time
emerald crab
porcelin crab

cerith snails
nassarius snails

SPS and LPS corals

Cool. I was thinking about keeping my clam with:

Nerite, Nassarius, Cerith, Turbo and Margarita snails
a Peppermint shrimp
a pair of Fire Red shrimp
a pair of Skunk Cleaner shrimp
a blue linkia (hopefully I'll have good luck with this)
a fighting conch
a small school of green chromis
a pair of true percs
a tang (don't know which one yet)
a mix of softies, lps, sps (still to choose)
and maybe one other fish (any suggestions?)

Feel free to chime in if you think my stock list needs adjustment. I appreciate your suggestions. :)

Thanks guys.

Wow really! With all those claws in there, I would have thought otherwise.
No way. I firmly believe that no scavenger will ever touch a healthy clam. They don't even recognize it as food. One time my maxima jumped off his rock and left a clump of byssal threads behind, and the crabs were there picking at the dead threads right way. But never the healthy clam.

lost of fish and inverts just liek most of the people above i do have a copperband which i didn't see above.

What do you guys think of a flame angel?

I heard there's a 50/50 chance they are nippers... too much risk?

I'd say that sounds about right. He probably will nip. As stated above, my flameback angel nips at my Derasa every now and then, but it's really not that often. He usually takes algae off the side more than he actually tries the mantle....

Others won't allow angels (dwarf or otherwise) near their reefs - I say try at your own risk! Someone will always take a beauty like that off your hands if you don't want it anymore... :smokin:

Cheers

Is always hit or miss with these guys so if you do add one i would watch him if you have clams in yor tank as they like to pick at themantles.

Sometimes shrimp can cause problems too.
Cleaners are probably ok but some of the fire shrimp and pepermints could cause problems if memory serves me correct.

I currently have a cleaner shrimp, rose aneomy(sp?), a turbo snail, and a lettuce leaf nudibranch.
I plan to add a school of anthias, a tang, and not sure what else.
Sps of course will be added.

I have a juvenile Imperator Angel...he doesnt touch my clams boing on 2 months now. It was a bold move as I have hundreds invested in my clams. But so far so good. I have heard others with favorable reports so I figured what the hell and tried it.

I have:
a saddleback clown
a pink spotted watchman goby
a spotted mandarin
a juvenile blueface angel

inverts include corals, an anemone, hundreds of snails, a couple of tiger tail cukes and a couple of little crabs.

The only thing that may pose a threat to the clams is the angel and it has been fine for the last few months but is still only about 1.5-2". I added it when I did because I had plans of upgrading the tank allowing a few months to test him so that he could be removed during the upgrade if he caused any problems. The new tank is now about a week or 2 away and at this stage he will be making the move with all the rest of the fish. :bum:
