what do your clowns like best?

what kind of clowns? maroons tend to find somthing to host and never leave that spot. even to eat... lol

I have a couple of Ocellaris clowns who are constantly swimming around in the open areas, almost never going inside the rockwork. On Saturday I added a green BTA though and one of the clowns wanted to snuggle up in it about 10 minutes after it had been there but the BTA was all bunched up.

My false percula clowns only swim in open water, they don't ever go near the rocks. At night they sleep in the corner between my skimmer prefilter box and heater.

My percs only hung around the rock work, i added my 1st LTA about 8 months ago and they went to it like flies on suggar, they started hosting it in like 30 seconds or less... :) Now they wont go more than a few feet from it, and only for food. They have a 8' long tank to swim in but choose not too...

Every clowns personality is different. Adventurers and homebodies. Hosters and night swimmers. But to answer the question, a little bit of both. They are not too picky...breeders keep them in a 40G tank with a clay pot and/or a tile to host and breed on and that's all...no sand, no lr, not tankmates...just them. A mixture of both places, a few overhangs, some crevices, a couple flowing corals or an anem(wait for a while if you decide to get one to feel out your tank) and a few open areas for them to check out is a great solution. They don't require rock work like a tang that has to be somewhat specialized...they are fine with what you give them, provided you take care of them.
