What does low magnesium affect?

What are some things that magnesium affects in sps corals?What does a deficency cause? What symtoms can you see that are caused by low magnesium?

It is primarily a competitor ion with calcium (and others) for various bonding sites. If present in the proper amounts, it basically is able to bond first, thus keeping calcium in solution where it can be utilized biologically.
