what eats pods?

My tank is infested with pods. Not the small period sized ones but the bigger quarter inch ones. That's how big they have become w/o any predators. They are upsetting my sps at night because they are so big and so numerous. Anyone know of an invert that eats these? Or anyway to capture them? They are even harder to capture than bristle worms. I don't want to buy a fish just to eat them and no chemicals for my tank.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks in advance!

Not sure of any inverts. I got a sixline wrasse to do the job, but in your tank go for a scooter blenny or a mandarin.

I second the Mandarin Goby try the green ones they seem to eat more.

Hmm not sure if I want to get a goby. Would a midas blenny work if its hungry enough?

Go for a type of dragonette.....like a scooter blenny. I have not seen a midas do very good at scavenging except for being an algae grazer.

I'm not sure if a Mandarin would go for a large 1/4 inch pod you are speaking of. I know the sixlines would def go for them since I feed mine PE mysis which are about a 1/4 inch in size.

Any decent size wrasse or pseudochromis will make quick work.

I'm not sure if these guys will survive in a tank with a hugeee carpet. =) So far i guess only wrasses and gobies will eat them..meaning I have to get a new fish...

Mandarin is a bad idea.

The pods are too big for most mandarins, and there's a significant chance you'll lose an awesome fish to the carpets.

So no inverts huh? I'd think if my cleaner/coral banded shrimps were hungry enough they'd start eating the pods. No luck so far.

if i could catch my wrasse i would let you have him for a while to get rid of your pods and then you could give him back lol i would get a wrasse i havent seen any pods eversince i added my wrasse into my tank. madarins are to slow and im sure your carpets would have a good expensive meal:/

If you put your wrasse in there I will probably never be able to catch it again haha. Thanks though. I guess I might just have to deal with the pod infestation in my tank for a while. Maybe I'll try to starve my shrimps...

mandarin gobies just die after a year or so in a large tank.

i dont think your shrimps will end up eating amphipods or co pods:/ good luck with getting rid of them!

Why not try a small wrasse? Don't flashers eat pods too?? Thinkin your sps would hate a sixline.

i had a big problem with amphipods eating my zoas. first, i tried a mandarin, and it never did anything. it died about 5 months down the line without doing anything to the pods. i wanted a nice fish, so i picked up a mystery wrasse and it wiped out my pods in no time...

I've actually always wanted a mystery wrasse, but not sure if it's smart enough to not go into the carpets. My tang has so far been intelligent enough to stay away. i guess I can see if my midas do ok in my tank first and if so maybe i'll add another fish to eat the pods.
