What filter to use during Hypo??

I have to hypo 11 fish in a 40 gallon QT tank. No LS, no LR. Just some pvc pieces for hiding comfort. I have read everything I can find on how to hypo, but I can't find anything about filtration during the process.

The tank is NOT up and running at this time. This is a new setup.

seed the tank with seasoned saltwater from the main tank. use a biowheel filter with a carbon insert for mechanical/chemical filtration. toss in a sponge from your main sump to seed additional bacteria. then, lots of water changes. daily in fact. as much as 50% at a time and monitor your chemical levels - esp the ammonia.

Thanks. I'm using 20 gallons from the main display and 20 new.

I have no sponges in my sump, only socks.

I'll pick up a couple HOB filters on the way home.

Good advice! I would add that an air pump and air stone is extremely helpful in a QT to help keep water well oxygenated.
