I have a pair of Golden Butterfly fish in my 180. They have been together for about 8 months with no real issues. They fight occasionally, but nothing serious. There is lots of rock in the tank for them to get away from each other.

They are about 3-4"

......they are usually swimming together most of the time.

Pairs:
Mixed Regal Angels (blue and yellow belly)
Yellow Tangs
Flame Angels
Dussumieri Tangs (not sure they're actually a pair so much as 2 that spar but get along for the most part)
Pink Skunk Clowns
Percula Clowns
Royal Grammas

Kept in Pairs in the past but no longer have 1 or both:
Firefish
Black Ocellaris
Yellow Headed Sleeper Gobies
Bar Gobies
Lemonpeel and Coral Beauty Bonded/possibly Spawning Pair
Zebra Moray Eels
Various Damsels

Pair golden rhomboid fairy wrasses
Pair flame wrasses
Four bartletts anthias (I now have 2m and 2f)
Four helfrichi firefish (they may have turned into two pairs)

Yellow Assesors 2
Neon Gobies 2
Green bar Goby 2
Sunburst Anthias 3
Ocelaris Clowns 4
Carpenters Wrasse 4
Zebra Bar Goby 4
Dispar Anthias 8

I got them locally, if u need some PM me and I can give u the number to the store. There currently in my 65 which is pretty loaded with fish. I feed heavy, have a skimmer rated for a 300gallon! And do 40gallon water changes every 2 weeks. Also they will be in there new 120 in about a week or 2. I ll post up a pic in the next day or two.

That's my experience with butterflies as well. Pretty sure that's not a true pair. Either that, or true pairs in aquariums don't get along.
