I need to replace the original 350gph return pump in my Seaclear system II 50gal. tank. Should I replace it with a new 350gph or go up to a 550 or even faster?

I think 350 would work just fine. I'd stick with that. I've used a 300 on my 55g tank and I've recently upgraded to a 700gph. I"ll be getting rid of the 700 and going back to a 300 soon. I liked the results better.

Most people suggest 3-5X turnover in a sump so I think 550 would be to much if indeed you are talking about return from a sump. I just asked for info on this same matter for my 75 and everone suggested 250GPH turnover. This is especially true if you have any algae in the sump to help remove nitrates and such.

It is a uniquarium and I do have the old bioball area converted into a refugium so it does sound like I need to stay at 350gph. Thanks.

Mag 7. The last return pump you will need to buy for your tank. By the time you calculate the head it should put you around 400gph.

I have a mag 7 and HATE it. It is extrememly noisy you can hear it through the walls. I just purchased an eheim and should be here today I can't wait to get rid of the Mag.
