What Happened

Hi everyone! Hope someone can shed some light on this for me. So here's the story. I have a 92gallon corner tank with a 29gallon sump/fuge. I live in NJ and was recently impacted by Hurricane Sandy. We were out of power a few days until we got a generator. The tank did not suffer to bad from incident (lost 1 acro). However parameters got a little out of whack. In the process of getting parameters back my 9 month pregnant wife decided to have the baby. Which put me farther behind. Although everything was still doing ok. Friday I decided I needed to get salt for water changes and chose to switch from Aqua Vitros Salinity to Red Seas Coral Pro. Since Friday I change 20 gallons of water (5 fri,5 sat,10 sun). Last night after changing 10 gallons I noticed corals were retracting polyps and losing color. This morning almost every coral is bleached. What Happened? Did I bring levels up to fast? Choose wrong Salt?

Water parameters before salt mix change:
Calcium-350
Alkalinity-6.6
Magnesium-1260
PH-7.9
Nitrate-0
Phosphate-0

Today:
Calcium-400
Alkalinity-7.2
Magnesium-1360
PH-7.7
Nitrate-0
Phosphate-0

I would say your Alk is to low. I had this happen a few weeks ago. Maybe bring up your mag as well.

Congratulations for a new baby! This is the most important thing, everything else is less important.
I have heard negative things about Red Sea Coral Pro -- just wonder.

I have bounced from salt to salt at times without adverse effects. Being that you spread them out over a couple days, letting the water change become exponential, would only have weakend this process so personally I would rule out the salt as the culprit. Has your dKh just been declining since the last time you dosed or whats the story with the 6.6? Congrats on the new baby tho man, I hope everything else is going smooth for ya
