What heaters do I need or want?

Hello everyone,
I am looking to get educated on what watt heater(s) I need to run my 60-650 Gallon system. I will be using a neptune apex to control my tank. I plan to run 2 heaters in my sump in case 1 breaks of course and 1 more heater located in my transfer tank(sump 2) My system has two 210 gallons tanks, a 150 gallon tank under them (transfer tank or sump) and 150 acrylic sump in the garage. Also I will have a 100-150 gallon new water tank that I will heat with a separate heater.

Thanks Shannon

Found a Heater Calculator and it tells me I need 6000 Watts for heating my tank. I am hoping this is not true. I have read that a quick calculation is 2.5 watts for every gallon.
650 Gallons x 2.5 watts = 1625 Watts. Sounds better to me.

I am thinking maybe 3 Heaters about 600 Watts per heater. Maybe some one can shed some light on this for me and tell me if I am right on or crazy.

Thanks

You need to keep your heaters where your temp probe is. Or you could get two JBJ 500 watt heaters, see if that works and then add if you need more. I take it you keep your residence in Alaska at proper temps or you will need a bigger heater.

Thank you for your response. Yes I keep my house at normal temp about 67F. As of right now I plan on having 2 temperature probes for my system. One will be located in sump were 2 heaters will go and one will go in the Transfer tank were third heater will go just to make sure all tanks are kept up to temp. I am planning on 2 in the sump in case 1 goes out I will have at least 2 running.

As you can see I have redundancy for everything I can.

How many plugs will you use for heaters on your Apex? You could also use a dual Ranco temp control very popular here. I am using a 300 watt Finnex titanium heater now and it is on a controller. All heaters are suspect for failure, so redundancy and controller are the key. I would look into Ehiem Ebo Jager , Finnex, JBJ and Via Aqua heaters all are titanium but the Ebo Jager.

I will use as many as needed off my Apex. I will be using different modules for each on and different circuits to my fuse panel. I like redundancy. The heaters will be set to a little over the hottest day on the Seasonal calendar so if for some reason the port get stuck on then the heater will shut off it self. I have been looking at the JBJ heaters and like the concept.
