What I did when Adding a Clowning

Well I posted some pics of my happy little maroon clown a while back and the bubble tip he loved so. Well few weeks ago I had my lps order me a maroon clown to try and pair up. I ask for smallest one I could get since mine was about 1 and half inches somthing small. Well it cmae in and it was a bigger one about 2 or 2 and half inches...... well I knew I have a fight on my hands adding a larger fish. So after a week or so I decided it was time to try the waters so I turned lights out and add the bigger maroon clown to the tank. well at 1st my smaller fish ran up to it and started to act like he was the bigger bader fish. the larger fish turn and niped him once. I knew it was going to be a long night wacthing them. Well to my amazment the smaller fish started doing the clown wagging around the larger fish. there was a little nipping for a day and now a week later they are never apart. they swim in circles with each other and back and forth hardly leaving the bubble tip. there is a small cave in the rock under the anemone and they are going in it toger......not sure why.... but I think they might be close to laying the way they are acting.... just thought I let people have some hope.... adding a clown somtimes can not be as hard as they say..... I was lucky this time
thanks guys

gives me a tiny shed of hope. I bought two maroons that were in the lfs fish tank for tw weeks. I put em in at the same time and the slightly larger one started nipping and the smaller one did the wagging and was very submissive.

Unfortunatly.. the nipping was so bad all his fins became feathers. and he got a few cuts/missing scales

I trapped the larger one in a spagetti strainer for a week, let lil dude heal and get his spot (whitch happened to be the bigger fishes spot b4 i caught her)

I tried agian after a week, and as soon as I let the bigger one out lil dude started twitching and they did theyre tail smacks... then she started nipping non stop chasing him.

I became way worried and I returned lil guy to the store, where he was trasported to another persons home the next day!! BUT.. I get reports.. seems the lil dude is thriving in his new home...

But.. I still have this mean girl in my tank. I added an anemone and she hosted right away. Now i wonder..

with the anemone will it be easier to add another fish.. or even harder. (shes the ONLY fish in the tank and Im scard to add another because shes so aggressive! any fish.. not just a clown)

Would love to add another maroon *ha* maybe a yr from now.....

my luck

my luck

with all new fish I add if they are agressive or somone in the tank I think might be a problem. I found that turning the lights out for a few days helps. Somone gave me this tip and I thought it would be bull but it seems to help I have a true perc that mate died while back and I added a false smaller perc to see if I can get them mated up so far its been 2 days and older biger isnt accepting but I got lights out for most of the day and night ( I mean dark room totally and this tends to let them adjust somewhat better.
