I went to the jetty today (in California) and I saw a lot of life including lots of macro algaes, crabs, snails etc.
I realize that most animals from temperate oceans will no survive in a reef tank because it is too warm. Are there exceptions, has anyone tried?
I put some baby sand crabs in my tank (Emerita analoga) 2 weeks later I still occasionally see one swim around and burrow in the sand, though I think my anemone has eaten two already. I picked up a piece of sea lettuce (Ulva) which I have in my plankton culture, maybe it will survive.
What about all the other macro algaes on the pacific coast? Or black turban snails Tegula funebralis or hermits Pagurus samuelis? Any thoughts?
