I noticed this stuff, it's everywhere! floating in the water and all over almost every coral and rock!

Did something in the tanks release eggs? There major purple in color and small but they are all over everything.

This fish are going crazy for this stuff eating it up!

most of it has been sucked up through the pumps already but it is still covering about 65% of the tank.

From watching the Discovery Channel...it looks like your coral is spawning. If I am correct, congrats, that's awesome.

That was my first guess too.

Could it be BTA Eggs? I have never seen them but I heard them described before and that is kind of what they sounded like.

Congrats, you must be doing something right. So, the polyps pictured are not the source of the eggs?

The skimmers off! and It's hard to say what the source is but they look the same around most of the tank, the anthelia just seemed to catch a lot of it so it was easy to take a picture of it. The fish have had a field day with it all. i'm gonna try and get some more shots!

I am gonna try andget some out of the tank and put them in a couple of the other tanks to and see if anything springs up!

How exciting!

I'm curious as to why you would want to turn the skimmer off? Yes, it will likely go crazy but for good reason. All those eggs getting chopped up in the pumps, the extra fish poop from eating all that spawn, and not to mention all the unfertilized eggs that will start to decompose in the comming days, I think I would want my skimmer running overtime.

I think Schplitter meant for you to lower the water level in your skimmer so that it doesn't overflow every 5 minutes, not turn it off completely. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd have to agree with Nick.
