What is an ok fluctuation in temp?

Hi there guys,

I am setting up mt QT and TTM in my garage. It gets hot here so I've been testing the temp of the water of both tanks before getting anything in them to have an action plan.
My QT tank is a small 10G glass tank and my TTM tanks are 7.5G plastic containers.

At different times of the day on different days I've found temps as high as 82.5 and as low as 79.

I plan in getting a pair of the fans below to cool both tanks off (one 4-fan and one 3-fan) but they do not have temp control, so whatever variance I see now, I'm likely to see with the fans, just at a cooler temperature.

What is an acceptable temp range for these tanks and max variance you recommend?

Anywhere from 76-83 deg F is fine..
Up to like a 5 degree daily swing shouldn't be an issue at all

I do too. That controller is reasonably priced and works very well. I use Celsius rather than F because it allows a tighter interval between high and low thresholds.

Best to TRY to limit your daily swing to two degrees. One saving grace is that rock and sand hold the previous temperature state and lag behind the water. Fish will use that for relief.

This is not about my DT yet, that is being held hostage by Hurricane Irma. This is about my QT and TTM which are both bare bottom tanks.
