I turned the lights all the way up thinking it needed more light, and it started to fold in like this:

im thinking this is normal...leathers tend to do this from time to time..dont need lots of light either.. give it good flow tho..it will help with the shedding....didnt list any parameters

I have a similar looking leather to yours I've had it round 3 years started off the size of a golf ball now the size of a baseball mitt they grow well under right conditions they do need good flow when they grow they go shiny and shed skin it takes a while for full recovery and they get grumpy easily like in your last picture nothing to worry about, what fish do you have?I had to move my leathers to my fuge because my powder blue tang likes to nip the pollyps which looks like one of the first pictures?hope that helps.

Parameters are absolutely perfect.
I have a puffer, Blenny, yellow tang, and fox face.
I keep enough strips in there for the fox and tang to graze on, so I've never seen them even nip at the rock.
There is an urchin, but it hasn't gotten close to the leather since I got it (2 weeks ago).
Also, there is really good flow, the lights are turned down low. Today it has unfolded, but the polyps haven't come out yet

Normal.. Its a leather.. Thats what they do on occasion..
They will close up, shed (you will see a glossy loose layer of skin on/coming off them),etc..
This can just be for a day or sometimes a week or more.. As long as its not melting away it more than likely fine..

Sometime no matter what you do, a coral will die.
I've had gsp die is a tank where sps was doing amazing.
It's a live critter, that sometimes can't tell you what wrong.

Looks like it is shedding to me. .. but it could also be aggravated having its base in the sand. .I would lift it out of the sand a bit and make sure it has decent flow over it and it should be fine

I'm thinking it's just ****ed and stressed from the journey home. As everyone else has said leathers just do this sort of thing from time to time.
