What is happening to my Duncan??

Over the last few months it has been slowly losing heads. There is a white substance that is growing over the dead heads and growing up the live rock that is next to the coral. The best way I can describe the white stuff is it looks like superglue. Thoughts?? Hoping I can save it!

Water parameters? Any corals with sweepers next to it? What fish? Give us more info about your setup and we can help. FTS?

The white stuff is a sponge, you can peel it off if you want. From the look of the heads it's in a spot with little to no flow, if that's the case then lack of water movement will kill off heads pretty steadily.

That would explain the giant sponges as well^ they dont often grow that large in my tank

I love those sponges used to have them all over the back of my rocks

Like organism said, they're sponges, some of which can produce irritants that bother or stress certain corals. Try to manually remove the sponge from the Duncan.
