It's hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like it might be red bubble algae. If so, it is not as much to worry about as the green bubble algae. It is softer and far less stubborn and, in my humble opinion, it's pretty. I have some in my cube and it has never approached nusiance status.

Can you get a clearer picture?

I'll have to pull the rock out as its under a over hang and take a picture that way. Give me a few minutes and i'll get one.

Alright well hopefully some of these help. The thing to the left on the first picture i dont know what it is either how its looks and is growing seems like a cabbage leather.

Also i'm pretty sure it's not bubble alage as it don't feel or look anything like bubble alage then again i could always be wrong

Hmm. Still hard to tell, but looks less like the red bubble algae now. I'd wager yet that it's a rhodophyta of some sort.

Ok, I think I was confused about which "thing" you were asking about. Are you inquiring about the thing next to your thumb in first picture of the second set? Or the larger item, a coral for sure, to the left?

Well first was the one by my thumb then when i pulled it out i saw the thing on the left that wasn't there about 2 weeks ago when i moved the rock lol.

So i guess you could say i'm wondering what both are now. :eek1:

Alright. The one by your thumb is a rhodophyta, I believe. Can't tell about the one on the left. It looks fleshy in the new pics, but the side view from the very first pic makes it look foliacious. If better pics are difficult, try a written description about is physical attributes. You might also try a post in the marine plant and macro algae forum. There are some pretty sharp minds there.

Cheers,
Ben

I have the same red algae....it's not really a problem.
Unlike the green stuff bubble it's easy to kill. But mine spreads very slow and is very easy to manage to I just leave it until it gets somewhere it's not wanted.

The red may be Botryocladia skottsbergii

And the green may be Ventricaria ventricosa or Valonia macrophysa
