What Is My New BTA Doing?

First off, we have a 55gallon reef setup. Our lighting is a T-5 HO system, and filteration, skimmer, etc. are all normal. Parameters are all normal.

Last night we finally purchased a BTA. He was very healthy, and transported very very well. Once it was acclimized (don't think I spelled that right) and moved to the tank, he was fine. He even moved off the rock he came to where he wanted to be.

He is nowhere near any other corals. He did very well. He was open all night, and seemed to have grown when I checked on him this morning. I started getting ready, and he looked normal. When I was finished, I looked again, again he was fine. I took some medicine, looked again, and noticed he started shriveling. All of a sudden, it deflated all it's bubbles and just started falling off the rock.

Now, he's attached to the rock again in a little crevice below where he was. This is my first anemone, so is this normal, or something that should concern me?

How many watts do you have total?

Do you have a nice flow in the tank, they like current and bright light. He might be trying to shy away from the light for acouple days. they will move around until they find a place with perfect light and current. i placed mine in the tank and he has stayed in the same spot for days. he gets alot of light and current here. as long as water quality is good and everything else. then just keep a eye on him.

you know when i got my anemone last week 4-5hrs in the tank he did the same thing just totally deflated.....i was like EEEK! 80$ down the drain...ends up he was just expelling waste and then he reinflated. check on him when you get home. should be fine i would probably guess

dont be too alarmed. He will take a while, even a week, to fully adjust to the water conditions in your tank. Try feeding him once a day and if he takes it, great but if he doesnt, he's not ready to eat yet so hold off.
Just kep an eye on him as he moves around. Be careful that he doesnt get sucked into one of your powerheads.

Thanks guys.

Our fixture is about 216W, we are running about 4wattspergallon. The tank has excellent flow.

I thought I may be overreacting but I wanted to be sure.

I will post an update when I get home and check on him.

He's fine. Make sure mouth is closed tight. Mine looked bad the first two weeks I had him in the tank and now he is open most of the time with the bubbles back. He lost a little bit of color but that should come back. Mine shrivels up to almost nothing at times but an hour later, back to normal. Just getting used to your tank. I was alarmed at first too but just keep params good and on top of water changes and you should be fine.
